About the project
This project examines publicly circulated statements of the “نظام الطيبات” (Nezam El-Tayebat) nutrition system in a scientific, fair and transparent way. It is aimed mainly at people in Germany and Europe who encounter these statements – often through Arabic-language videos and websites.
Purpose
The nutrition system goes back to the Egyptian physician Dr. Diaa Elawady (د. ضياء العوضي). His videos reached a very large number of people. Some of his recommendations concern not only foods but also medicines such as insulin, antibiotics and cancer treatments. Anyone following such recommendations should know what the scientific evidence says about them.
We examine statements, not people. We do not assess motives, intentions or qualifications. Where Elawady is demonstrably right, we say so clearly. Where the evidence is unclear, we do not force a verdict.
On dealing with a person who has died
Dr. Elawady died in Dubai in April 2026. According to Egyptian press reports, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, citing the medical report of the United Arab Emirates authorities, stated that it was a natural death. According to its own statement, the archive eltayebat.com is run with the permission of his heirs. We treat his memory with respect. This does not affect a factual review of health statements that are publicly influential. Such a review is especially important when these statements continue to circulate.
Context: professional measures in Egypt
We mention this information because it is relevant for classifying the statements, not as a judgement on the person. It comes from Egyptian press reports; we could not retrieve the authorities' original releases.
- Dr. Elawady was a consultant in anaesthesia, intensive care and pain management. According to press reports, his service at the Faculty of Medicine of Ain Shams University ended in 2023.
- In December 2025, the Egyptian Medical Syndicate referred complaints about his content to its ethics committee. At its session of 17 February 2026, its disciplinary board decided to strike him from the Syndicate's register. According to the press, the reason given was the dissemination of scientifically unproven medical statements outside his specialty.
- In March 2026, the Egyptian Ministry of Health ordered the closure of his clinic in Cairo; his licence to practise was cancelled.
- On 3 May 2026, Egypt's Supreme Council for Media Regulation instructed media and platforms to stop circulating any video, audio or written material by him.

What we examined
- The rule pages, the food list and the 339 cited studies of the archive eltayebat.com.
- Transcripts of 307 archived videos from 2021 to 2026.
- Unofficial third-party sites (altayybat.com, mytayibat.com), clearly labelled as such.
- Independent scientific studies, guidelines and official reports for cross-checking.
- Legislation and monitoring data: in depth for the EU, Germany and Egypt, plus country profiles of varying depth for further countries and international standards (Codex Alimentarius, WHO).
Important distinction: who said what?
Many statements attributed to the system are not verbatim statements by Dr. Elawady. The archive itself writes that the cited studies were compiled by the archive operators “independently of Dr. Diaa's words”. For each statement we therefore indicate whether it comes from a video transcript (his own words, but machine-transcribed), from an archive quotation without a reference, from archive editorial texts or from an unofficial third-party site.
Independence
The project is non-commercial. There is no advertising, no sponsorship and nothing for sale. Information about the operator and funding will be added to the legal notice before publication. No details have been invented.
Use of artificial intelligence
Research, data analysis, study assessment, translation and programming were carried out with the support of an AI system (Claude, Anthropic). Fixed rules applied: every study was checked automatically against PubMed or Crossref. Numbers could only be taken from texts that were actually read. Arabic quotations were automatically matched against the transcripts. Errors may nevertheless remain. The assessments have not yet been reviewed by human experts and are therefore explicitly provisional.
Limits
- Most studies could only be checked on the basis of their abstract, not the full text. This is stated for each study.
- Assessment tools such as RoB 2, AMSTAR 2 or GRADE were applied for orientation only, not in a complete formal way.
- Some video transcripts are machine-generated and contain no timestamps. The original YouTube videos were not watched individually.
- For many questions and many countries there are no comparable data, or no checked data at all. We then say so explicitly.
